12/22
So after the first day out ice climbing this season I decided to make a change with my crampons, last season I pretty much exclusively had my darts set up with dual points and this season I’ve switched to monos.
I think it’s a natural progression to move to monos as it’s more “advanced” but I’ve switched to monos mostly due to the boots that I’m using for this season, the La Sportiva G-Tech. I will be curious though to see how the darts perform with the G5 EVO as I tried that combo last season and I wasn’t a fan.
As for the crampons themselves, they perform great! They are aggressive and give a great bite into the ice. Also the antibot plate is such a great feature, no more snow balling up underneath. On a more technical note the darts are convenient to switch to dual and mono due to the fact that they only have one bolt holding the points, it’s hassle free!
One downside that I could think of is that because they are steel crampons they start to rust, so just make sure they aren’t sitting in puddle and you’ll be fine.
