So to preface this, I did switch to the Aquila from the Sitta as my main ice climbing harness. As soon as Petzl announced that the Aquila was getting a redesign and getting more gear loops I was sold! Having more storage was big for me as I felt like I didn’t have that much space on the sitta. And having that extra full size gear loop on the very back is such a nice thing to have. Personally I put all of my anchor building materials on that loop so when I get to where I need to build an anchor I know exactly where all my supplies are.
Also at first I was kinda worried about how the harness would feel when belaying or hanging, as previous adjustable leg loop harnesses have pinched a nerve in my leg that made doing any of those things super uncomfortable. But I’m happy to say that the new Aquila is just as comfortable as the sitta, and maybe even more so because of the padding.
