12/22
Well, I can tell you this, these draws are lightweight, like really lightweight. The Petzl Ange Finesse 17cm with the large Ange carabiners comes in at 78g. That’s a really impressive metric, as when you have a bunch of them racked on the weight is minimal. And that’s also been a nice point of interest with these draws, functionality without sacrifice of comfort.
The dogbone is just as wide as Petzl’s other dog bones but this one remains thin and lightweight due to the material used. And now while some people have complained that the dogbone cuts into their hand, for one this complaint isn’t relevant for ice climbing because we wear gloves, and two I haven’t noticed any discomfort when grabbing the draw. But that could just be my hands.
One other thing that helps make this draw unique is that the Ange carabiner is a monowire. And let me tell you that using these carabiners has changed the way I look at wiregate carabiners. The Petzl Ange is super convenient because the monowire has a hood that it goes into, so say goodbye to those moments where a traditional notch gets stuck when unclipping from the rope, bolts, or ice screws.
Now This blurb wouldn’t be complete without saying something to balance out the good, so I’ll say that the main problem with these draws is the the STRING. And for those of you who don’t know what that is, it's the little bit of plastic that is supposed to hold the clipping carabiner in place. But with the Ange Finesse it really doesn’t do that much good. I constantly find that the clipping carabiner is out of place. So if there's one thing I’d improve with this draw it’s the STRING.
